Andahuaylas Country House

The project involves designing a country house in the Peruvian highlands for a family of 5 members and landscape design for the open spaces.

The dwelling comprises 3 levels distributed according to the housing program. The first level houses the common use program, the second level contains the bedrooms, and the third level houses the service program.

Limestone is used for walls and floors, and clay tiles for sloped roofs. These materials stand out in the architecture as they provide the building with the character of the zone.

Also, a sculptural staircase is designed that stands out in the ample shared space of the living and dining room. The verticality of the staircase space highlights the building's volumetry as it provides the vertical axis to the building.

Two open spaces are developed: the main garden that includes a chef's garden and an interior patio for the grill. These spaces include vines on perimeter walls, low shrubs, herbs, trees, and crops in planters. All vegetation is for a climate with strong sun exposure and rain.
